Climbing is now possible
for seniors.

Safely, thanks to the FOOTING VERTICAL™

Are you over 50?
You can climb, with the Footing Vertical™.

Practicing Footing Vertical™ is like using an “electric-assist bicycle for climbing.”

Footing Vertical™ is made possible thanks to our motorized auto-belay device: a technological system composed of a motor and a strap. The strap attaches to the harness of the senior climber, and the motor provides adjustable weight relief. This way, they can climb while feeling significantly lighter — as if they weighed only 20 kg (44 lbs).

It allows them to gently return to physical activity, safely and with confidence. If they let go of the holds, the motorized auto-belay device automatically supports them. This means they can take breaks whenever they need to.

You can also sign up for your parents and grandparents.

The benefits of climbing for seniors.

Strengthens your muscles

Strengthens the muscles of the arms, legs, and core, helping to combat sarcopenia (the loss of muscle mass and strength associated with aging that affects all seniors).

Improves your joint flexibility

Climbing requires extending the arms and lengthening the legs to reach the holds. This helps improve overall mobility and flexibility.

Improves your balance

The leading cause of death for those over 65 is tripping falls. In climbing, we are constantly working on balance and coordination. This improvement in proprioception significantly reduces the risk of falls.

Improves cardiovascular and respiratory capacity

By climbing, you increase your heart rate and lung capacity. This helps improve your heart health. You feel less out of breath and are able to engage in physical activity for longer periods.

Increases mental and emotional well-being

Many seniors lose social contact and feel lonely. Climbing is a very social sport where generations mix. Climbing allows seniors to maintain strong social connections, make friends through the activity, and feel better mentally and emotionally.

The Footing Vertical™ for active and less active seniors

for active seniors

The motorized belay device allows active seniors — those who already enjoy activities like walking, swimming, aqua aerobics, cycling, yoga, tai chi, fitness, or strength training — to try a new, highly comprehensive sport and even go climbing with their children and grandchildren.

Because they’re already active, these seniors will have no trouble experiencing Footing Vertical™, which enables them to climb safely and take breaks during the ascent whenever needed.

for less active seniors

Practicing Footing Vertical™ is ideal for seniors who are more sedentary or not very active, as it helps them gently ease back into physical activity at their own pace. One of the biggest barriers to exercise is often the lack of strength needed to support their own body weight. Thanks to the motorized auto-belay device, which can offset up to 100% of body weight, they can climb with a feeling of lightness while enjoying all the benefits of the activity.

Over the course of several sessions, they gradually reduce the level of assistance until they’re able to climb at their natural body weight. Even with just one session per week, improvements in muscle strength and balance appear within a few weeks, bringing a strong sense of pride and lasting well-being.

We will keep you informed as soon as a Footing Vertical™ is available in your city.

Meet seniors who are already experiencing Footing Vertical™ and reaping all its benefits

Martine: 63 years old, overweight

Martine had never climbed before. She came to try the Footing Vertical™ in November 2024, after hearing about it from a friend.

At her first session, she was quite apprehensive and started climbing with 80% of her body weight reduced. She felt very light while climbing. Despite this reduced weight, she had to take breaks every few meters, as she wasn’t used to physical activity (it had been 10 years since she last exercised).

However, from the very first climb, Martine gained confidence and was immediately hooked on the sport.

Now, after 5 sessions, Martine only reduces 20% of her body weight and is able to do several consecutive ascents. She has even subscribed to the climbing gym to climb once a week.

Papi: 80 years old

Papi had never climbed in his life. At 80, he was looking for a gentle physical activity to improve his well-being while respecting the limitations of his age and overweight.

He discovered the Footing Vertical™ thanks to his sons, Mickaël and Bassa MAWEM, who convinced him to give it a try. During his first session, he was a bit hesitant and worried he wouldn’t succeed. He started with 90% of his body weight reduced, which helped him feel light and confident.

From the first few minutes, he enjoyed moving without pain, at his own pace. He took breaks regularly, but was surprised to find he could climb higher than he had imagined.

After a few sessions, Papi became more comfortable and gradually reduced his weight assistance to 60%. He feels fitter, sleeps better, and has even noticed improvements in his posture and breathing. Today, he comes every week to do Footing Vertical™, proud to prove that it’s never too late to get back in motion!

We will keep you informed as soon as a Footing Vertical™ is available in your city.
